Oral health promotion and clinical care in community based settings

Current Public-Health Related Activities:

Dr. Gluch is an active participant in the School of Dental Medicine's community outreach program and focuses her research activities on oral health promotion demonstration projects in the community. Dr. Gluch is the principal investigator for the School of Dental Medicine's Minority Oral Health Outreach Initiative Program, PennSmiles, which combines education, screening, and referral programs with mobile dental care for school children in West Philadelphia. Dr. Gluch is also the project director of the Oral Health Outreach Program with HIV/AIDS clients in collaboration with the Oral Medicine's department's Center for Medically Complex Patients. In both of these programs, Dr. Gluch studies the effectiveness of educational programs in increasing access to care for underserved populations. In addition, Dr. Gluch and her team are studying the role of these programs in dental education, particularly the dental students' participation and responses to academically based service learning. Dr. Gluch is a member of the American Public Health Association, the American Association of Public Health Dentists, and Community Campus Partnerships.
